Dr. Sawyer Konys, DDS

Dr. Sawyer Konys is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who brings together advanced surgical training, precision, and a unique background in art and design to provide thoughtful, individualized patientcare. With a strong interest in technology and digital surgical planning, Dr. Konys approaches each procedure with careful attention to both function and form, while making patient comfort, communication, and safety central to the treatment experience.

Dr. Konys earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine before completing his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Boston Medical Center, where he ultimately served as Chief Resident. His training included extensive experience at one of the East Coast’s busiest Level I trauma centers, with exposure to the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dentoalveolar surgery, complex implant rehabilitation, facial trauma, orthognathic and TMJ surgery, head and neck reconstruction, craniofacial surgery, and facial cosmetics.

A particular focus of Dr. Konys’ clinical approach is the use of digital technology to enhance surgical planning and precision. He has extensive experience with CAD, 3D scanning, virtual surgical planning, and3D printing, and has helped develop digital workflows for complex implant, orthognathic, and reconstructive cases. His background as a professional designer and sculptor gives him a distinctive understanding of three-dimensional form, proportion, and structure that complements his surgical training and approach to patient care.

Dr. Konys is also actively engaged in research exploring how emerging technologies can improve diagnosis, communication, and patient outcomes. This continued curiosity and commitment to innovation reflect his belief that technology is most valuable when it meaningfully improves the patient experience and quality of care.

Outside of surgery, Dr. Konys has a lifelong passion for art and design and enjoys working with his hands on furniture, lighting, and structural design projects. He and his wife also enjoy hiking and spending time outdoors, making the Hudson Valley, with its vibrant arts community and abundant outdoor recreation, a natural place to call home.
